Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Aid Project

Our Mission

Our vision is to create a multi-cultural, multi-generational long-lasting effort to help the victims in Japan. To inspire a thousand people to inspire thousands of others. To open our hearts to the people in Japan.

The Origin of “Thousand Hearts”

March 12, 2011. A six year old named Emily and her family were watching the televised tragedy unfold in Japan. The massive tsunami destroying homes, leveling villages. The mother holding her daughter’s hand, only to see her slip away into the waves. The father looking desperately for his family. The darkened, water ravaged halls of a school. Once thriving cities devoid of life, evoking images of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Emily turned to her mother and said I want to do something for the children in Japan -- “how about connecting hearts”? Read More About Us.

Thousand Hearts is coordinated through JETAP (Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami Aid Project), a statewide grassroots efforts. Our members belong to bar and other professional associations, community organizations, teachers and students who have come together to support the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief effort. Funds from the Thousand Hearts concert and other JETAP projects will be distributed to Japan through direct aid efforts, including the aid fund established by the City of Riverside, the sister city of Sendai. JETAP welcomes your information about additional direct sources to support the relief efforts.

If you would like to become a supporter in helping to spread the word about the Thousand Hearts concert or about JETAP’s efforts, please contact: info@thousandhearts.org. Many thanks!
